'70 Cutlass dash question

I am trying to remove the woodgrain trim from the dash on my 1970 Supreme, specifically the trim piece that wraps around the steering column. The trim comes off going around the AC/Heater controls, but it is obviously sandwiched between the trim piece for the wiper switch and the dash backing. How does the wiper trimplate come off?

Thanks....

I did the same job about ten years ago! Not easy, but can be done.
Here is a link pg#44 pdf or 110 on lower right corner.

Like Pat said, not a really easy job. You must pull the fuel gauge out and maybe the speedo. That place is held to the dash with two quarter inch nuts. The connector for the switch is held on with two quarter inch screws. If your car has AC you will need to remove some of the ducting right below that area. Also the **** on the wiper switch is held on with the 16th inch allen screw.

Wow, nice pdf... that will be saved for future use as well!

Thanks Packrat, that was my next question! I tired a couple small allen bits from kit and none of them "seemed" to work, however they may not have been long enough to reach far enough inot the hole. I will revisit this Saturday afternoon...

Thanks!!

Hi - I also plan on replacing the woodgrain on the entire dash, how do I remove it. Is it glued? Do I have to pry loose with a flat spatula? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
