68 Cutlass wheel and grill paint

I would like to repaint the wheels and grill on my 68 Cutlass S convertible. Does anyone have a paint code for the gray for the wheels? What about the grill? Was it painted the same color as the wheels? How do you paint the wheels and keep the shiny edge around the openings? Tape them off? These don't have the chrome trim around the opening which I think is correct for a 68, think 69 had the chrome trim? Should the housings around the headlights be painted gray also?

grills get dull aluminum which you can get at local parts store. This is correct for head light housings.

Far as wheels yes you tape them off. Argent gray is correct for wheels Fusicks, Parts Place and others carry it for Super Stock II s

Wait, let's back up a minute. Are you talking about '68 SSII wheels? What "shiny edge around the openings" are you talking about? In '68, the raised lip around the openings was painted a different and lighter (lighter than the rest of the wheel) silver. '69 up got trim rings. If that (light) silver paint around the openings is what you are talking about and is correct and in nice shape, then yes, tape it off to paint the rest of the wheel.

Let me take a picture tonight, Don't know the different wheels so maybe the picture will help. It looks shiny but may be painted, it looks good compared to the rest of the wheel. Thanks for the help and input.

Scratch that, yes after looking at your pictures, those are the wheels I have. So the edges are painted also, what paint color/code is that?

This would be Krylon 1403 Dull Aluminum in the typical spray can.

be careful on some of the argent gray spray cans, it's more black than gray. a buddy found this out the hard way.

What color is the trim on the wheels? After looking at them they need complete repaint.

Since nobody else is answering, I believe the grill dull aluminum mentioned above will pass muster.

OK thanks. Will have to do more research as the wheel trim looks shiny compared to the grill now that its painted.
