67 Cutlass factory steering ratio

Joe Padavano can answer this without even knowing the question. Let’s see…..

67 Cutlass Supreme Convertible 330 Jetaway. What is the factory power steering ratio?

Chassis Service Manual (Pg. 9-41) lists 17.5 : 1 for everything. I’ve heard multiple times that it’s a variable 16:13:1, but don’t remember where.

I just spun mine and it’s 4 1/4 lock to lock, if that helps.

Thank you!

No variable ratio in '67. Should be straight 16.1 through 1969.

The ~4.25 turn boxes are fixed ratio 17.5:1. All 1964-69 Olds power steering boxes use the same pitman shaft, so they all have that same ratio.

See?! Joe is soooo money. It is so good to know what ratio that thing has been all these years, Even a 14:1 is better.

i was speaking with the owner of Powersteering.com today and he speculated the variable 16:13:1 as well. Good dude, good outfit.

Thank you to Bangscreech for playing as well.
