66 backup lights

66 backup lights

Anybody know where the wires feed into the trunk from my backup lights in the rear bumper? 66 cutlass

They feed into the wiring harness that runs from left side tail light to right side tail light. There is a hole in the trunk floor just below the trunk lock that the wire passes through with a rubber grommet to seal it.

I have to charge you those fender vents for this tidbit of info

I believe there are two wires, one on each side of the trunck lock. The additional wire goes to your license plate light.

Thanks Trip I thought thats where they went with the fuel gauge wire or lic plate light than. you will have to do better than that for the scoops though.I built my trunk floor it was pretty bad wasnt sure if I missed something for the wires to go through

The hole near the trunk latch is for the license plate lamp. The pair of backup lamp wires, joined like a 110 volt lamp cord, feed through a small hole in the vertical body panel below the tail lamp that is hidden by the bumper. The hole has a grommet and is about 3" above the pinchweld at the bottom of the quarter.

The fuel gauge sender wire goes into the passenger compartment in the vertical part of the floor in front of the diff.

OK now its comming back to me I took this car apart in the early 80's THANKS A BUNCH I will start looking to see if I still have those holes or I will drill some new ones I put alot of new steel on it.

The backup wire goes through the back of the vertical 2" above the bottom of the quarter (not 3" as I posted earlier). The crease in the panel is 3" up.
