455 valve issues
Hello all.
I have built a 455 with C heads, the engine kit that I brought was one from Enginetech. It came with a cam that is a stage 3 cam, ES176R. The spec sheet said that I may need a 0.50 longer push rod. After putting it together and cranking the engine it seems that i have a valve pecking noise. So after calling Enginetech they told me that they don`t sell an application for this issue. Can anyone help me with this issue.
Background on the engine is it was bored 0.30 over and new exhaust valves and guides intake valves were reusable. it seems that the new exhaust valves are about .032 lower than the intake valves. I don`t have adjustable rocker arms I stayed with the factory application. just bolt down and be done with it .Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Stage 3 high performance. Use hydraulic flat followers. Base circles smaller than stock. May require longer push rods. .050 Duration-232/232; Cam Lift -.296/.296; Lobe Center-110/118.

Thanks for the info , one other question I have in the center of the intake there are what looks like threaded holes. What is the purpose of these holes and should they have stud bolts in them to seal it off.

Hello once again i`m further in my engine build it`s in the car and runs but the engine has no vacuum for the brake booster. it`s very temperamental and i`m almost to the point of pulling the cam and using something else, I`m using the engine tech es176r camshaft in it. Should i have degree this cam or can i just time it straight up on the dots? I`m really bummed out about it The engine is bored thirty over and is using C heads and everything else is factory, thanks for any help.

If you can get it to run good with the radical cam then a vacuum pump is not uncommon for that exact issue. I happen to have a slightly used one by summit racing if interested? $269 new, yours for $125 plus shipping.
