442's registered in Ontario Canada

Hi all, I thought I would ask you fellas as the licence bureau just stares at me like I have 2 heads. The ownership for my 69 442 simply identifies the car as a Cutlass. VIN 344679Mxxxxx. Before I go and try again, did Ontario simply use Cutlass? What does yours say? Thanks Dave

Our 442 is registered as (make) OLDS, (model) 442, because that is the model. A Cutlass is a different model as we all know, except them. Another 442 is registered as (model) Cut. My 442 convert. is registered as (model) 442. My W30 is reistered as (model) Cutlass. So it seems to depend on the office that you register at, what gets put in the model box.

Your trim tag might show your car as a Cutlass V8 (ST 69 33667 LAN ...). Lansing used the "Cutlass V8" identifier for model series on the '68 and, as I recall, either most or all of the '69 model 4-4-2 and Cutlass cars that came with a V8 engine. The key identifier for the true 4-4-2 is the VIN which shows "44" as the model series.

Our Ontario ownership has the model as a 442 (the car is a '70 442 W-30, ......not the car picture in our signature), not sure why there would be any difference between '69, and '70....probably just what the dealer that originally licensed the car in 1969 put on the form?

Just realized that we are in the same city (Sarnia).....small world. Did your car come from Park Lane?

You can ask them to call head office in Oshawa to get it changed over to 442 I did it for one of my car's but some places don't want to be bothered. I went to Mississauga and got it done.

My '69 4-4-2 (a 344-car) was identified as a Cutlass on the registration and insurance forms. I just asked my agent to change it to 4-4-2 and he did.

I might make it down to the car show as a spectator, but both our cars are not able to attend.....our '70 W-30 is presently not insured for the road, and is in Bracket Racing trim (open exhaust, slicks, etc.), and the yellow '70 race car, is in the garage finishing up an engine upgrade. If we make it downtown to the car show we'll try to hunt you down
