394 crankshaft!

394 crankshaft!

Well I just rebuilt this 59 394 oldsmobile an it started knockin shortly after,2 rods spun bearings ug sucks so heres a few pics after took back apart anyone know if my journal can be turned or is it scrap? Help!!!

That rots, sorry it happened.

​​​​​​First order IMO is to find the cause. If the crank was standard and oversize bearings are available e.g., .030" then it can probably be salvaged. Only remove the minimum amount of material needed from the crank for which bearings are available. If .020" will suffice and those bearings are available do that.

Ya that be good so wonder if oil lines got plugged on that journal? Heres a pic of whats left of part of bearing half one rod had no bearing left at all crazy so as long as can be turned thats good know!

In addition to crankshaft resizing, the connecting rods will need corrective machining or possibly replacement.

Hey John whats up,ya there was shavings in oil a bunch got a pic if can find it so u habe a 394 crank? Thats good 2 know is it a 59 or 60? The later years 394's cranks had wider no1 main cap bearings,will know soon if its gonna fly! Fun stuff ha! Thx wayne!heres what was in oil crazy!

Ouch! I saw your previous picture of the remains of a bearing! Not sure what years I have, but if you do end up needing one I can get the casting numbers off them and take any measurements you'd need to know if I have the correct one or not.
