Question 1987 442 engine conversion

Hi Guys. have a 1987 olds 442 that doesn't have enough gitty-up. I do have a 1976 olds 350 engine that I want to build and install. I show the car and want it to look original under the hood. Can I install the 350 and use all the accessories from the 307? Thanx in advance Ed

The 350 and 307 are externally identical. This is a bolt-in. Just transfer the water pump, pulleys, and accessory brackets from the 307 to the 350 as a matched set to avoid alignment problems. I would recommend not using the tubular exhaust manifolds from your 307, as they do not flow well and are designed to match the small ports on your 307's 7A heads. If you are keeping the computer, use the cast iron manifolds from a 1980-84 307.

re: thanx Joe

Hi Joe. Another old fart here. Thanks for the help. Will the 76 manifolds also work or are they different?

There's a guy down in florida with a 455 equipped 98 he's trying to sell ... that's bucket loads of giddy-up .. and the small and big blocks don't look all that different to the untaught.

Yes, but they don't have the bung for the O2 sensor. That's why I suggested the later manifolds IF you are keeping the computer. If not, then any A/G-body SBO manifolds will work.

Hi Professur. Thanx for the info; but that would be a little more power than I can handle. I think a 350 with a little head work and a cam will do me. Later
