Hey guys, can someone please tell me if a 1970 442 without A/C could have soft ray tinted glass. from the factory? I always thought it had to have A/C.
Thoughts?

 

I've got tinted glass on my 67 with no air. I would assume you could with any year.

 

Yes it could be ordered. I believe it was an option if you didn't order A/C.

 

RPO A01 for $38.87 was Soft Ray Tinted Windows available on any Olds A-body with or without A/C. RPO A02 was just the tinted windshield for $26.33.

I have seen a build sheet on a GMAD built convertible that was AC car and it showed A01 for all tinted glass. Someone has scribbled it out and hand wrote A02 only which is Windshield. You would think all tinted would be mandatory on an AC. It was dirt cheap to the the next step to all tinted. Another interesting fact is Lansing and western plants got LOF glass and east coast plants got PPG. At least 68-72 era anyway.

 

Even AC cars did not get tinted windows unless ordered.
