1968 Cutlass S Gas Vent
1968 Cutlass S Gas Vent
Hello,
I have a question just purchased a 68 Cutlass S and when I went underneath I saw the vents for the gas tank were not there. Just the empty tubes on the tank. Where should the breather run to and what should be on the end of the hose?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

The two hoses go straight up to the clip about 6 inches away. '68 only had some strips of foam stuffed into the ends of the hose, whereas '69 had a plastic cap covering both hoses. Make the hoses long enough to reach up to the floor..
As well, when I restored my '68, I used the original vent hoses with the foam stuffed in them and I was always getting a raw gas smell in the shop. I switched to what is used on the '69 and the gas odor went away. Fusick sells a reproduction set-up called the gas tank vent tube filter kit for about $35 that comes with the filter, tubes and clamps, and that's where I got mine. Looks exactly like the set-up on my '69.
