1964 cutlass tilt bowden cable replacment

Im trying to replace the broken turn signal Bowden cable on a 1964 cutlass tilt column., which way does the bowden cable come out of the column? Has anyone replaced one with a 'Parts Place' aftermarket cable?
Thanks much

The cable comes out from the top underneath the steering wheel, it’s held in with a cross head screw and attaches to the small nylon bell crank that is often broken, usually the reason for cable not functioning.

my bell crank is ok.
just did not know if I needed to pull it out the wheel side or the firewall side of the tube. wheel side made more sense but mine is getting bound up when pulling out the wheel side.
will just have to be more patient i guess.

Could be getting caught on horn wire, slowly tilt the head and try pulling and twisting slightly. It's easier to do when you pull the tilt pins out.
