1959 394 engine rocker setting

Greetings from Australia
I’m trying to find the gap setting for the rockers on my 59 98, can’t seem to find it anywhere.
Hoping someone over there can assist.

That is because there is no setting. The rockers have no adjustment on them.

They are hydraulic valve lifters which automatically adjust. If you don't hear valve tapping it is good. If your hear tapping something is worn with too much clearance.

Good luck!!!

Thanks very much, that would explain the lack of information

If you hear tapping from the rocker arms, a possible cause is the hydraulic lifters sticking and not pumping up. I have fixed many a car with this trick - Change the oil if it needs it, add one bottle of General Motors E.O.S., Assembly lubricant, GM part #88862587, AC Delco #10-4021. The original name for this was Engine Oil Supplement, hence E,O,S. on the label, but with the emissions regulations that has been implemented, they changed the name to Assembly Lubricant as it has a high amount of Zinc in it It is OK to run it and leave it in your engine.

Thanks for the info, my mechanic made the same suggestion recently.

I used to sell that stuff when I worked for a Buick dealer back in the 60's when it was still called Engine Oil Supplement. Good stuff.
