Good morning, I've been trying to sort out vacuum and electrical issues with heat and ventilation. It seems impossible to view the connections and correct anything with the two controls installed (heat and ventilation) and my hands are rather large. I don't want to just start pulling on lines. I think I should pull the controls out of the dash at least a little ways so I can check to see if the connections and lines are good. I can't see where or how to remove the controls and the shop manual does not spell this out. I hope some of you have had to take these steps and will have some great advice to share. Thanks, David
'57's are a PITA when it comes to dashboards.
The dashboard itself is welded to the body,
Everything else must come off from it.
A lot of good access can be gained by removing the glove box and the glove box door.

Thanks Charlie, I have the glovebox out. I have not removed to door, but am thinking of removing the carboard panel that holds the speaker. I agree about your PITA comment. I also have the schematic you provided and it, from my impression, leaves out the information on the heat and ventilation controls. I think I will try to use a light and mirror to see if I can locate fasteners, which I assume are there. I just want to know how things are attached and I am not interested in puling everything apart. Will provide updates after my next foray into unknowns.
