Info on putting dual exhaust on 88 cutlass

Hello everyone just picked up a 1988 cutlass supreme it has the stock 307 engine and automatic trans. want to put dual exhaust on it without headers if possible i'm sure it has been done any help would be great. Thanks Steve Uncasville Ct.

The first question is, do you need to stay emissions compliant where you live? If so, some inspection stations require that you retain the stock single converter. If so, you can run the stock split pipe and dual mufflers from the 85-87 442s. This is a bolt-in. Pypes Exhaust sells some very nice high-flow catalysts. One of these can replace your stock cat and reduce restriction. They should be 50 state legal also.

If you are allowed to run dual cats use two of these cats. Pypes also sells a mandrel bent 2 1/2" dual exhaust system for the G-body. The Pypes system includes down pipes and can be uses with or without cats, depending on local regulations. Use their X-pipe also.

88 Cutlass exhaust

Thanks guys for the info on the exhaust. Joe i think that i will go with the 85-87 442 set up have a couple more year with testing here in Ct. so i think that will wok for me for now. Thanks Steve
