Dome light door switch

When I open the doors on my 1963 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 the dome light does not light. It does light when I manually switch it on. I pulled the switches and when I touch the white wire (only one wire at switch) to the steel near the hole where switch fits, the light works. I assume this is a switch issue. The replacements are $95.00/each so I'd like to be sure. Any thoughts???

Sound like the switch is not making contact to me. Before spending $95 I would try to fix the original switch. Make sure the switch body is grounding to the metal, as in no paint in the threads, etc.

Is it anything like the switches in this post?

Get an aerosol can of electrical contact cleaner and spray the switch before buying a new one.

The switches are shot and can't be saved so I have no choice. Thanks for the feedback.

For a hundred bucks a pop, I'd put up a want ad here - there are probably members who have coffee cans full of them.
