64-67 A/C Drain Question

I used my A/C for the first extended time last Saturday, about a 50 mile drive and when I pulled in to the cruise in,my buddy said he saw my A/C dripping like most but when I backed up,a very large amount of water came gushing out. Just curious as to why it collects and doesn't drain continuously. I know the 64-67 A-Body cars drain through the bottom of the cowl and not under the hood like the 68 up cars. It has the rubber boot on the bottom of the evaporator housing. This is the first A/C car I have had,so I have no experience with how they act with the A/C drain.

Thanks

Mike

Is there a page in the PIM that shows the drain? If yes I would like a page #.

There is no picture or diagram that I can find of the drain. I've looked in the PIM/parts book/Fisher body manual & service manual with no luck. The parts book shows it being the same as the 68 up units that drain under the hood and that's what is on the car. As I said the 64-67 A-Body cars drain into the cowl/rocker area and it must puddle up somehow to cause the problem or the lack there of. The drain pipe as they call it goes on the bottom lowest area of the evap housing & the housing fits into the cowl from the engine side,so I'm sure I've got it installed right. My buddy said it gushed so much water it looked like it blew a hose and some other guys standing there also commented on it doing that. Let me know if you can find anything on it.

I'm thinking the trap may be a stiffer rubber so it may take more liquid weight to relieve the trap of water.
The traps I've seen were made of pretty pliable rubber and always weeped water when present.
Make sense to you?

Yes I thought about that. It was weeping a little before the gush,so it must either be partially working but not as good as it should. If it is a bad or stiff drain tube,it will just have to work because getting the evap housing out @ this point is not an option.

A slow drain is ok, I would think, as long as the water leaves eventually.
