Ram air scoops

I am installing a w31 ram air set up on my 69, 442,and am not sure if the location is correct. I was wondering if someone could indicate if the location shown in the pictures is correct.
Thanks
Ralf

Lookin good

They look right to me. I believe the placement I used was from my 1968 Assembly Manual.

The positioning looks good. There are dimples in the fender liners for the location of the large hole & the small one for the upper mounting tab. You should buy the correct lower fender braces though. All '68s & '69s with OAI had solid lower braces with no rubber on them(it gives you a little more room at the outside of the scoops, next to the brace) Fusick has the correct braces,pt#s FB689L & R, they're a little pricey at $46.50 each! Your one scoop bracket that shows in the pic isn't turned the right way,Fusick's catalog &"the good Olds days" website has some pics of the scoops with the brackets attached.I wish I known about the Mike Siedlik's good Olds days site before I bought the ones for my '68 from the parts place. His come all assembled, ready to bolt on. The parts place ones have no markings on them for the brackets & as you know you have to assemble everything!!. I was able to blow up the pics off Siedliks & Fusicks sites & was able to come up with decent measurements on where to drill all the holes for the rivets for the brackets. Make sure you use backup washers on the rivets, like the factory did. Once I had the brackets attached I held the scoops up & marked the bottom of the core support with a grease pencil for the lower holes. When I was happy with the lower mounting I used tape to hold the upper bracket so I could make sure the scoop was straight before I attached it. The installation turned out pretty well. Hope this helps......................Rob

That looks right, but even if you get them where they should be, check the tire clearance when turning. I had to adjust a little so the tires would not rub. Those pieces of plastic are way too expensive to ruin!

If the fender braces are the same as the 68 (which didn't have the rubber) I probably have a few extras for a lot less than $46.50
