Oil recommended

Oil recommended

Hi guys. I need oil I changed it w/15w 40w Classic Car Motor Oil, I was going to buy Valvoline Vr 1 but they don't have it in 15w 40w What weight would you guy recommend I'm in Lexington SC ,they have 10/30 weight This engine is screwed up but I need some till the builder decides what they are going to do.

Steve, I would put the VR1 10-30 in it. Imho, I would not do anything until you hear back from the builder, any additional running may make it worse.

Thanks I took it out today to reset my atomic setting ran fine no noise,but It smoked when I started it ,I just got off the phone with the builder He said it could be the PCV,it's getting oil on my EFI ,I shook it they was noise but that's definelty not the noise when it taps, He said as long as I got oil in it It should be alright to drive,I was thinking of taking the PCV out and but breathers on it that's how I had it before,I'm am getting fed up with this BS

PCV's are cheap, you can just replace it. You can cap the line and see if that's the noise easily. I've seen PCV's suck oil before. Is your oil pressure good now that you changed the oil?

No the same 50 mph 20to 35 bouncing needle, I stop and it goes to 0 then 10

I'd try another mechanical oil pressure gauge to be sure. If it is still low then there are issues. You should have 50-60+ when cold and at least 25 hot idle with a fresh engine. The old rule of thumb is a 10# gain per 1000 rpm.

Morning I swap the guage same readings,I was looking for a PCV I found one but would not fit it valve cover way to small I gotta come up with a groumet and I'm going to add the crank case from the other cover to the air cleaner,

Is it still sucking oil? How is your oil pressure at hot idle and speed?

That will definitely give a good HOT reading. We are blessed with around 95 and high humidity today.

Well I took it out ran alright a little noise starting ,went down the street punched it Oil coming out of both pipes,I go home take all the crap off PCV etc I put my 3 vented caps on ,called the engine builder he gave me a bunch of crap,The guy who put it in is going to call him I guess they don't want to pay for taking engine out ,I had oil problems since new ,we will see I about had it w/this car this is the 2 times rebuilt,I can't keep doing it,I should of put a 350 Rocket in it,
So I wait till my guy talks to the engine guy.

Just a simple question, but were the oil baffles in the valve covers removed to clear aftermarket rockers and studs?
