1970 Cutlass 2door post coupe

I have a new gasket around the doors but I need to know what to apply between door and body to fill that gap. My car has nothing there so its a large gap, with very much wind noise.

There is nothing to "apply", just the molded rubber weatherstrip. If you have the correct weatherstrip and there is still a gap, either the door needs to be aligned properly or something is bent from a prior accident.

If you put the right weatherstrip on the left door and visa versa they wont seal.
The post car I just bought had them on that way.

I didnt either but its the way it was,it takes the sealing edge and turns it toward the outside of the car and pulls it away from the body. Ive also seen manytimes people putting the trunk weatherstrip in backward, when you do this it lets any water run right into the trunk.
