What is this?

Can anyone identify this? It is factory equip on a 66 442 400 engine. The round thing attached to the fuel pump.

It is a pulse reducer thought to reduce fuel pump pulses which was thought to cause quadrajet flooding issues. 1966 was the first year for the Quadrajet.

I have been buiding Oldsmobiles (65-67 442's) since mid 80's and have never seen one of these.

1st one I ever saw was on my 66 Delta with 425 Sfire engine option.

that is a mechanical flux capacitor.uber rare.

My guess would have been something to do with Ca. emissions ...

i thought it was to reduce the pulses but more to keep a solid flow of fuel to prevent vapor lock.

Could be true, not positively sure on purpose only relaying what I though I read....

It was not strictly a California emission thing.

No, it was on a 66 400 442. Sold in Atlanta.
