W-30 stripes

W-30 stripes

Can somebody tell me the difference between the little w30 stipe and the big w30 stripes. Because I see alot of cutlass with a real skinny stripes and some have a fatter stipes. So what the difference. On the sides

First, I ASSUME you are talking about the 1970-72 cars. If so, there are no "little" W-30 stripes. All W-30 cars from the factory got these stripes:



Note that nearly every "restored" Cutlass on the road today is a 442 clone with a repro W-25 hood and incorrectly-painted stripes. I was amazed at the number of photos of cars with bad stripe I found on Google Images I came across this example.

Non-W 442s came with narrow stripes like this (this may be the only one on the web without a W-25 hood... ):



Note that even if the W-25 hood was ordered on a 442, the hood got the wide hood stripes but the car retained the narrow side stripes unless it was a real W-30:
