64 Starfire parts compatibility

Hi guys, I ordered an Oil Pan and Valve covers from e-bay. Add said they fit '64 394 eng but they are not even close. Ordered from JC Whitney and Never enough accessories? Both parts came from TransDapt. On the box it says they fit 64 330-455 but they don't fit my 394. Can anyone shed any light on this?

The 64 394 engine is derived from the 49 Olds v8 generation. The 64 and up 330/350/400/403/425 and 455 engines were an all new design v8 that did not share much of anything from the earlier engines.

Thanks, that explains a lot. I guess the so called"experts" at TransDapt need a little more knowledge in there products.

64 was a transition year and you could get both the 330 and 394 engines in different models of the full size Olds. The Starfires though were all 394's. Unfortunately this is a common mixup. As far as anything from Ebay there are rampant errors and outright lying in the application tables to drive up search hits, you need to know what the part you want looks like and even then it may not work. Good luck.
