1954 "98" I need help on vehicle value
i have inherited a 1954 Oldsmobile ninety eight. i am selling because already have enough toys and an unable to store it indoors like it deserves.
car is a 1 owner vehicle and i have the original sales receipt from the dealer. also have the sales floor book, and other dealer books that relate to the car. service records also. the car is in IMPECCABLE condition and never been in any wrecks or anything of the sort. the only flaw in the paint is a small chip in the paint behind the front driver wheel. interior is in good shape but shows signs of use to be expected since this was purchased and used as a family vehicle. car has been stored for an expended period of time and has normal "sitting" issues (brakes could use attention and trans as well, but from what ive read this seems usual for a hydramatic) car has 84k and change on it.
i think the best way to describe the car is a numbers matching survivor car in excellent condition. i have looked around at for sale forums but not been able to find a car similar enough to establish a price.
thanks for the help, Randy

Hully Jayzus what a knockout car! in spite of those big overrider bumper guards.
Hard to put a value on it. It's an exceptional car but being a four-door hurts it in most peoples' eyes, though I'm of opinion that a nice old car is a nice old car no matter what bodystyle.
A friend has a similar condition and mileage 1954 S88 sedan that they're trying to move as part of an estate, and after dropping asking price from $16500 to $12500 they have no takers yet. Shame too because it's a truly nice car and absolutely ready to tour. The only reason I haven't snagged that one is because I'm afraid it would disappear into the garage and go to seed from sitting as the other four have done.
You might get some results over on www.aaca.org since people there are more geared toward cars like this.
Always liked the 54 Ninety Eight because it didn't mind proclaiming what it was on its decklid- you knew what you were following down the highway.

I think the price will go up if you take those bumper guards off. Sorry but hose really screw the looks of the car up. There are a couple of 98 4-doors on ebay right now. One is really nice and the other is pretty decent. The green one (really nice) has been on and off ebay several times. If they sell, that might give you an idea. I think realistically you could expect $8,500, maybe $10,000.
