Hidden Vacuum Diaphragm?

OK, so I have a 1971 442 W30 coupe,TH400 w/hurst dual gate, the works.I’m preparing to list it for sale, and after a coolant flush the radiator failed, I didn’t want to risk a heater core failure, so I removed, cleaned and tested the heater core and I’m about to reinstall.Hence my question…..
When removing the heater core housing,I had to remove the vertical plastic kick panel on the passenger side up on the right side.Behind it to my surprise is a vacuum diaphragm of some sortwith two vacuum hoses going to it, one in, one out, I tried to keep the lines on the diaphragm assy but they cam off,and Idon’t know which vacuum line goes on the input or output, any suggestions what this diaphragm is, what it does, and which line goes where?PS, I have AC if that makes any difference.
Thanks in advance for the valuable advice I hope to receive.
