Saw this on Ebay.
I grant you early 50s stuff is not my thing, but isnt this about 5000 too much, well okay at least 4?

The car looks solid, if a bit dirty. Apparently it has only 26,000 miles on it, which is amazing, if true, for a 64-year-old car. The $12,500 is just a buy-it-now price. He's willing to take offers.

The Old Cars Price Guide puts the value of a '50 Olds 98 four-door sedan in #4 condition (runs and drives but needs complete restoration) at about $4,500. In #3 condition ("car-show" but not showroom), the value listed is about $10,000. So this car, with its low mileage, good-condition interior, and other positives is certainly better than #4 but not up to #3, so the value could be anywhere in between. It's certainly less, at least going by this source, than his BIN price, but you can't blame him for asking it. The worst that can happen is that he doesn't get it, and you never know what might happen.

I've seen a lot worse go for a lot more. That car has a 'presence' that you just don't see today.

I think desireability on this is low (4dr needing resto) and so it would be around a 6 thousand dollar car due to low mileage. You dont just get in a original 60 year old car and go cruising... it is going to need things... some that may be major.

5000-6000 car tops unless you sit on it for a very long time. The best thing to do with that car is detail it tune it up ect and market it over seas. They don't seem to care as much for a car has to be a 2dr anyone to want it like we do.

My point was that people routinely ask insane prices on ebay. It means nothing as far as actual value is concerned. If the B.I.N. were $100,000, it wouldn't make the car worth that much. Another example is the idiot who's been trying to sell a pair of extremely rusty C heads for the last year on the D.C. Craigslist. He's asking $350 (down from $800) and claims that he's seen them LISTED on ebay for $1000, so his are a bargain.

I challenge him to show me a completed auction on ebay where crusty C heads actually SOLD for $1000.

Low miles but needs suspension bushings? I don't think you could wear out bushings in that few of miles. I would have to see that car up close and personal before I would even make an offer.....Just me I guess...Tedd
