oldsmobiledave feedback

Just wanted to say thanks to oldsmobiledave. He contacted me about buying a console and dual gate setup. I did not have much time to deal with the console at the time due to many things I had going on and didn't have a good box or packing at the time. He told me he was not in a hurry. It took me MUCH longer than it should have and he was very patient with me and never backed out of the deal.

He is Great to deal with. Thanks Dave!

I think there should be a feedback section here just for transactions between members. That way a guy could search to see how a seller/buyer has performed in transactions. I think most already know how guys do business but it would be nice for the feedback to be in one place. Thoughts?

I think anybody named Dave who has a passion for Oldsmobiles has got to be a great guy!
I think for the most part the people here are honorable and trustworthy, but there is always someone who can ruin a good thing. I've often thought about a feedback system and think it's a good idea and a useful tool. Playing with Oldsmobiles can be frustrating as there just isn't the supply of parts and vendors as there are with other makes. We all know we devote more time and energy that someone looking to restore a '69 Camaro. I welcome the idea.

Thanks to all for the kind words.

I too recommend a separate section for buyer / seller feedback. This can be very valuable.

I would agree with that. It is nice to see such a large group of people in one place that for the most part all do good business with each other. I owe this community a huge thank you. I look back to where I was in 2009 when I joined here and where i am now.... The cars and opportunities that i have had in the past 5 years could not have happened if it were not for ClassicOldsmobile.

This has been discussed several times over the years. There are a number of reasons why it's not done.

Here's a thread from 2009.

I read that thread and seemed like lame excuses to me...for one i dont see the site resposible for sqaut in reality. A feedback forum is usefull for new members that dont know everyone...i wouldnt buy jack on ebay without reading others feedback

Hardly a reasonable comparison. Ebay is nothing but buying and selling. Only a small part of what goes on on this site is buying and selling. I can also certainly see the administrator's concerns about flame wars developing. Better to let sleeping dogs lie.

How many truly bad transactions have gone on here since 09? I don't remember many.

I have never had a bad one, buying or selling. I had one that was a little questionable but even it was not a big deal. That being said, You always have to protect yourself and do your homework. I think for the most part we don't need a feedback section. Just look at there number of posts, If they have a real large number of them they likely don't want a bad name. Get good pictures and feel good about a deal before going through with it.

Oldsmobile Dave does seem like a good person. Today he informed me politely of something I had wrong without any negativity. Truly a man who just wants to help anyone with a car problem. It would be nice to have feedback. So far though everyone I have dealt with has been great.

Dave's a stand up guy. I was a car nut without a car and now thanks to Dave I have a fine example of a 442. We made the deal via e-mail, big cash down payments with a promise to deliver and he did. Everything thing about the car was represented exactly as it came.
I am finally thoroughly enjoying my hobby thanks to him. Kudos to you Dave!

Here is another Dave's experience and opinion. I have probably bought about 8 or 10 items through CO. Early-on I was taken for a little over $400 by one of our CO thieving members claiming to have the parts that I needed. I believed that was not the norm for CO membership and am more careful now. One way is to require recent photos of any item that I have an interest. The vast majority of our members that I have had contact are more than honest and self-sacrificingly helpful. Although I am still P-Off about losing the money.

Being the rating system was brought up, how about a rating for guys on this site who make you jump through hoops as a seller, get multiple shipping prices, pack parts up, then disappear in the wind. There are quite a few here....

As far as Dave, don't know him, haven't done business with him, but his posts seem to be helpful and knowledgeable.

lol, I have never said anything about this in the past but it does happen alot. I just consider it as the price of doing busness. This is why it bothers me when I hear someone say some of us are just in it for the money or parts flippers out to screw other Olds guys. Even if they are not talking about me it bothers me. Most people have no idea how much time we get involved in doing this. If you count the total hours we have involved in finding parts cars, pulling parts, listing parts, cleaning parts, selling parts, boxing up parts, $$$ in gas, (the list goes on) we really don't make much money for the time invested. I just enjoy doing it or I sure would not be doing it.

Sorry Eric, I wasn't meaning you brought it up, I was referring to 66 3X2 442's post about it a few posts up. Getting back to what you mentioned in your last post, I feel what guys like you, 2blu442, Scott Winn, Brian Trick and Tony Bonafide, as well as many others go through selling parts here. I had a ton of stuff left over after I sold my Cutlass, and listed everything here.....not as fun as you would have thought, and definitely not a second income! THANK YOU AND ALL WHO SELL PARTS TO THE GUYS HERE THAT NEED THEM! THERE ARE MANY MORE HONEST HERE THAN NOT. YOU GUYS HELP KEEP THE FUN IN THIS HOBBY!

I've made a couple of deals through CO, (Olmanwinter and Jerseyharold), in both cases everything all parties said would happen did happen, I got the bits I wanted and they got paid in full. Dealing with Olmanwinter was aspecially good, mainly because he helped me deal with USPS doing its best to screw things up.
In both cases I posted a thread saying how pleased I was that I had dealt with honest and honourable people.

There have been negative threads, mostly it seems with dealing with businesses. Perhaps sometimes we forget that radiator shops, engine shops etc are run for profit, not for enthusiasts. If we are dealing with a shop run by a businessman who is also an Oldsmobile fan that will probably help, but don't expect more than a fair deal or the place will probably go out of business pretty soon.
