1988 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser

I have just purchased a 1988 Olds Custom Cruiser Station Wagon and on the back tailgate it has the word "Village". Is this a package that was offered? I have looked at others on line but can't find any info. Can someone help me out. Thanks!

Never heard of a model as such. Might it be the name of the dealership? Does seem strange that no city/state is mentioned, though. Your thoughts, Jaunty?

Seems to me it's the dealer plate, if it was some trim package it wouldn't be factory and would probably be called Villager (my guess).

Olds never put a logo in the lower LH corner of the trunk or tailgate. As others have noted, this is a dealership emblem.

Might it have originally been purchased here?

There's about an 86 Cutlass on ebay right now that has the exact same badge on its trunk lid. Being sold by a place called Village Cadillac/Oldsmobile/Honda in Richmond, IN.

That's some high quality sleuthing. Sherlock Holmes probably couldn't have done as well.

The more I thought about it, seems I remember a Cadillac dealership over in Highland Park Village called Village Cadillac. Back in the '50's. Very upscale area of Dallas.

Thanks for all the info. I am going to look in the glove box because all the original paperwork is in there from the dealership that sold it new.

Just keep in mind that the emblem may have been added by a later used car dealer, not the original dealer.
