Used tires - great deal

Priced new tires for the Delta 88.
Ranged from $80 to over $130 per tire mounted and balanced. The pick n pull has used 225/75/15 tires for $17 each. The local tire shop charged me $10 each to mount and balance, so I'm ahead for sure.
Just make sure the bead is solid and tread/sidewalls are in good shape. The tire shop inspects them too, so you have another set of eyes on them. As you can see, the old girl needed new shoes!

Yes, you sure can't beat that price, and these tires certainly should be able to tide you over until the rest of the car is fixed up. At some point, though, you'll want white sidewalls as these cars simply scream for them.

Gotta tell ya, I'm liking the blackwall look with those hubcaps. I like the whitewalls with the spokes, but those dinnerplates I've got on there are so clean. I'm probably gonna paint the car black and put a black top on as well. 99% of Olds convertibles I see have the whitewall tires. Going for something more understated (if a 20ft long convertible with a red interior can be understated!)

The tires are 7 years old with very little wear and good beads.
I know, old tires are dangerous and most tire shops won't install them.

I bought used tires for my 3/4 dodge ram diesel. They where near new with new wheels 600. Well over 1000 if new. Only issue was someone over inflated then and the centers where a lil worn so I had to drive with them a lil low on psi to even the tread out. Craigslist can be a good source for buying good used tires in driving condition.

On the upside is that these are great deals for project cars, especially those that have been sitting on flats for years.
After the car is roadworthy, then change them out for new ones.

They would also be good for people like me who barely go over 45mph and work is 6 miles away. I have now postponed changing tires on my daily drivers due to this good change.
Lady is the long-distance touring car, with the newest shoes (oh my - 4 years old already!)

Damn, just had tread separation on my 245/60 r14s on the 4th. Not a good day to be looking for a rare tire. Thinking it was sitting flat for some time in its previous life as a project car.

Try the pick n pull or a salvage yard for a good cheap used tire. They have a section for tires they pulled already. Usually a great selection of rubber but maybe not labeled, so look close. It might come off a Mercedes but who cares!
