That Looks Great !

Car insurance anyone ?

I'm not sure why someone would saw the fender off instead of claiming this one their insurance , especially since the car is pretty new .

Not proud of it but i once drove a car 40 miles without brakes. Was poor back then, just got off from army, and had just bought a car to get to work and back. And apparently it lost it brakes. Was scary especially since it was winter-time with snow and ice on the road. Fixed that on the next day.

And later, just last year, i sold my old hobby-car i had for 5 years, spending two last years of its life on shelter, due to lost brakes, and my lost interest to it.. It wasnt inspiring car, just something i had bought when i was poor and couldnt afford anything nice. Even back then i wanted old american car, but couldnt afford one. Except rolling junks.

Two guys who just got driving licence, drove it at night 250 miles to home, even i expressed really clearly it has no brakes. Later heard they managed that trip without accidents, and rebuild the brakes and got it inspected back to traffic.

Hell, I did that. My Chevy lost them at a car show, I took it home by downshifting and the e-brake.

My wife hit someone at a light, gouged the bumper on the other car no damage to her's. The insurance company paid out $1200 but decided to charge me an additional $900+ per year for forty months. That's roughly $3,000 almost 3 times what the job originally cost. Didn't find any better rates when I shopped around. I would have been better off paying for the accident my self. That might be why it's better not to report it and saw it off. They masked it by charging me the $900 for the 1994 Toyota pick up I had. It was saving me about $400 a year in fuel. When I sold it the policy went down $25. So much for that good decision.

It looks like it's set up to become an unfortunate casualty of leaf burning at the curb.

My brother took this one. Intoxicated driver went off the Interstate and hit the mile marker and sideswiped guardrail. Proceeded to drive another 2 miles after getting off interstate, where the car ran out of gas because the sign punctured the fuel line. Front tire was flat and throwing sparks, as was the sign...with ruptured fuel line. Worst part was, her 6 year old daughter in the back seat. Thankfully no one in front seat! Driver got matching shiny bracelets. Don't drink and drive!

I can tell you.. As I had a 1980 sunbird hatch and the clapper piston started to stick on the pass side, There was no odd feeling of the pedal, and no noise from the brakes, even when the pad was nothing more than the metal backing plate of the pad, The rotor was so soft (iron) it didn't make any noise.. That you could here running down the road.. The full hub cap hide the silver flakes on the wheel.. I only finally heard some noise when I happened to have the pass window down and on a road with a metal guard rail , and was slowing, the noise was not loud, nor a squealing , it only had a faint clicking sound like the price is right wheel..
When I pulled the wheel, I got greeted with the same looking rotor.. might have caught it sooner if it was not winter..
cause was the rubber hose internal fail, not letting fluid back fast enough and that piston not releasing causing a brake drag that would slowly go away but was wasting the pad..
The new pads was dead within a few weeks.. That was when I found the true cause..

Eric, been waiting for some funds to change my floor board, hopefully soon. Wait until you see that hack job. They laid the new pan on top of the old one and riveted it into some type of place. New carpet they installed was cut to fit so in essence thats's trash too.

My Dad used to drop his car off at a local garage for his oil changes. A few weeks after his latest one, I popped the hood to check on a minor radiator leak and what did I find? A half quart of oil still in it's plastic container, melted to the exhaust manifold! Now I wondered, what else did they or didn't they do? I pulled the dipstick and the oil level was almost up to it's neck! Apparently two different mechanics worked on the oil change and the second, assuming that the old oil had already been drained, began to fill it with clean oil. He must have kept pouring until the oil came out the dipstick tube, and just dropped the remaining half quart between the fender well and the exhaust manifold! I drained the oil out and had to dump the catch pan three times before refilling the pan with new oil! Alas it was too late and within six months the motor blew!

Boowah, my neighbors always suggest it's easier to go to Jiffy Lube & that is the exact reason I do it myself. Sorry about the engine.

Jiffy Lube? What a joke! My buddy went there and they filled his windshield washer resevoir with plain water! As soon as it got below freezing the bottle froze and cracked! I myself went their once in the wintertime and as I was watching through the glass, I saw the mechanic shut the hood on my dipstick while it was still extended! Never again!

That's great! Kings Plaza Mall or Co-op City? Forgot to take a picture of the Cutlass with the trailer loaded up. I insisted in taking it on a road trip and went full Sanford and son. So I think I could have made the "wall". One or both of 2 things need to be done, air shocks, which I can't find and /or the air bags inside the coils which I have a set of. Next time I load it up I'll take a pic.
