I actually didn't fix this. I believe the owner did, I have my own concerns of this repair as to alignment specs and such. This. Was on a face book group and I have never seen a strut tower rot out like this before

Depending on what the rest of the car looked like I probably would have done the same thing . Concerns about specs and other things of that nature go right out the window when that's the only car you have and can't afford another one . I'm not sure if that's the reason this guy did this repair but it looks pretty good to me . I'm not sure if it's " Wall of Shame " worthy .

I agree. Sometimes you can wing something by just building to where the car wants the part to be, but it's never going to be right. Best thing to do would have been to walk away; second best would be weld in an entire apron panel.

Here's a Olds specific contender. Found this little gem during head bolt clean up my 71 350. Looks like someone didn't know you can just leave the stud alone if not used, or the guy didn't have a deep socket.

Depending on where one was when the tire failed, you might have done the same thing. IE: Bad neighborhood at night, in the desert with no phone/signal, getting chased by brain starved zombies!!

I don't know if this is "Wall of Shame" worthy.
It's just trail fix... a broken main leaf clamped to the rest of the leaf pack to get my Jeep out of the woods and home, and then to get the spring replaced.

That's the e-brake cable that looks stretched due to the angle of the pic.
I sold that Jeep a few years ago, but I keep those clamps in the one I still have in case I break another spring.

In high school a buddy of mine had an old Ford F-150. The power steering pump leaked. His solution was...every other day he would put in a large McDonalds chocolate shake. the stuff was so thick it would work for a couple of days. When the pump would start to whine he would just refill it. It was hilarious because you could smell the shake in the cab of the truck. She was pretty much on her last leg and full of rust. Within a few weeks she went to the wreckers...

At least SOMEONE finally found a use for a McDonalds shake that doesn't require a trip to the bathroom .

Had a buddy whose starter motor was zip-tied to the block of his Toyota pickup about 20 years ago.
The starter on those is held straight into an indexed flange with 2 bolts, so the axial force provided by the two zip-ties through the bolt holes was enough to do the job fine.

Hood must have been zip tied on too.
Shopping list:
1. Hood
2. Bigger zip ties

I am just curious if he welded the wrench into the manifold or bolted it to the block

If he had a welder I don't think he would be using zip ties lol.
Cousin had a Plymouth breeze and it was a two man job to start the car for a couple months, one to turn the key and one to hold the starter in place.

Seriously? That is amazing.

Where did you get that photo? Did you take it yourself? Was someone actually driving that car?

Wow.
