Opinion on going resto 71 w30 4 speed
Some of you may have seen my 71 W30 on Ebay. I'm moving forward on a few more of the details in the restoration. I feel the car is worth somewhere around 25K, and I'm not crazy about doing things that I won't get my money back if and when I sell it. Please offer an opinion, pro or con.
It is a driver car with a NOM engine in it. I plan on rebuilding the orig engine but need to buy the H heads. This will be a 10k or more investment. I'm thinking it would be a break even deal. Or should I just get the block checked out and throw it back in the shed?
How about the original block with some edelbrock heads as someone suggested a few weeks back on another thread.?
Thanks

Unless you can get the heads for cheap I wouldn't bother, let the next owner worry about it. they will be getting a darn good car for the bucks and if they want they can spend the money on perfecting the car to hopefully get 75k don the road. or they can just enjoy it as is.
I understand your thinking, and unfortunately, I'm the same way.....but honestly, I also believe your car is worth 25k as it is. Just didn't find the right guy that wanted it this time. You could always offer the parts that are needed for completion with the sale. I think that would be fair...
I drool over your car! You have the proverbial "smoking gun" with that broadcast card. Let the guy going for a 100% correct resto worry about the unobtanium H heads. A 4spd bittersweet W car is an awesome ride.
I see why you'd like to go a little better, as 71' is a low compression year, but in untouched factory condition, going to be the most valuable. If me, brobably build another engine to swap out, so every things easibly reversible.
