Intresting C head
Intresting C head
pulling apart a 68 455 from delta 88. C heads, low compresison pistons, big valves, 1111288 dist. both heads are 394548
On one of the C heads the exhaust crossover to the intake is considerably smaller than the other and oval not square. Both exhaust ports are open to it. I thought at first it was a plug, but i wirewheeled it and it was defenitely cast into it. also on that head the water jacket on the front of the head is divided into a top half and a bottom half with a thin sheet of what appears at first to be casting flash but its too predominant to be that in my opinion.
The head in qustion was cast on day 49 and the bottom of the head casting #s 548 and 13 are there.
ok... I just compared it to my set of A heads (v code) and they are the SAME! Is this an anomoly for a C head or was there a change somewhere in 68?

Here's an old thread discussing this difference. John
