Question VIN / Cowl Tag Reference Documents?

I was wondering if anyone had links or reference documents on all the different VIN combinations and Cowl Tag combinations for Oldsmobiles. Yesterday, I published the 'beta' version of my Oldsmobile website which, aside from the message board, I coded from scratch. I'm looking to develop new features and I would like to look more into making a simple VIN/Cowl tag decoder. Any information this would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks!

Pretty site.

You may or may not have run into these two pages with cowl tag information.

Thanks for the links!! Just want to double check, are the paint codes, trim codes, etc the same through the years (and not just 67?).

I don't think the cowl tag codes were the same for all the years of Oldsmobile, but others will know for sure.

Here's some VIN info.

For Oldsmobiles, post-war:

For all GM, 1972 through 2013:

For pre-1972, I don't know offhand. One thing you might do is go to wildaboutcars.com, and look at the factory service manuals for each year of interest. Many are there, and the first few pages give VIN decoding information. You could construct something for your website from this info. Joining wildaboutcars is free.

Yeah, exactly - the authoritative source for paint codes seems to be each year's Chassis Service Manual.
I think that paint code numbers stayed the same, and that the trim codes wre roughly the same, but I've never checked to prove this.

There may be a member here who knows for sure, though.
