1969 Cutlass S

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! I had some down time (with in laws and family and all ) I figured I would finally post up some pictures from the most recent project on the ol Cutlass. In all reality I rebuilt the rear end at the beginning of summer however fun summer activities (burn outs and such)have kept me from posting up. My car is an original bucket seat column shift car with the stock 2 speed Jetaway and 2.56 open rear. I have since had a very nice TH350 built and replaced the rear diff with an SL stamped 3.91 posi from a 69 Hurst Olds. I left the original shift linkage, it must have just enough wear in it to shift all 3 gears and still feel solid. I also left the original gear indicator so as to give the "stock" appearance I prefer. I did a set of Hooker competition headers last winter as well to go along with the freshly re-built original 350. The car is a whole lot of fun. I will try and post more pictures as i can find them.

He has had that for over 25 years now, it had a wrecked front fender and just put on a new one. I took a few pics of it when I was at his place, im sure he wont mind i post them up. Still wearing the orignal paint!! I have some pics of the rear end after i finisehd it but they are taking forever to load up from my phone. All these pictures of his 68 hurst olds.

Here are some of the restoration pics of the rear end, I really wish I had taken more when I did it. Sometimes you get so excited and motivated it is easy to forget to document haha.

It is always a good day when you get to work and have some hookers waiting for you

As you can also see there is a bit of a clearance issue, I have a feeling to original springs are sagging a tad.

Are those the ceramic coated competition models? Curious to know if you had any clearance issues on the right side lower control arm bolt, or if there were clearance issues on the other side by the starter.

Yes they are the ceramic competition model, I actually had NO clearance issues except re-routing the transmission cooler lines which was no big deal. I did unbolt the starter, the oil filter housing, and removed trans lines. I then loosened the motor mounts, put a wood block on my jack and raised the motor about 2" and they slid right in. The only issue I found was I think the 3rd bolt on the passenger side would not fit due to tube to tube clearance. I had to insert a stud and fish on a nut.

Also by the pics you can see the ground clearance issue with the cutouts and header flange. It is hard to beleive I havent even popped those babies off once since getting them put on last winter.
