No 1970 442's For Sale

I joined the site a few days ago and posted a Wanted Ad looking for a 1970 442 or W30? Not getting any answers at all so far? I have had several of these cars over the years but have been away from the cars for about 10 years!
I go way back and actually had a new 1970 442 W30 I purchsed in Nov 1969! It was quite a car Black/White Interior with White Stripes!
I guess as time marches on these cars are very hard to find? My last one was bought in 2000 and was redone by Thornton Restorations in Pa ! It was Agean Aqua/Black Interior with Black Stripes! Wondering if anyone knows the location of this car ? It was last in Cleveland,Ohio area in early 2000's ?

they are getting harder to find. i will have a 70 W-30 for sale soon. it don't fit the description you posted in the wanted add. this will be a running, driving car but needs a restoration, or at least a good paint job. no documentation and non numbers matching. i don't know what it is worth so i will likely post it on eBay.

There is one on eBay. $115,000 for it, though.

Sam don't give up. Last year I spent months looking for a Cutlass/442. Of course I was pretty specific in what I wanted but nothing, and I mean nothing, came close to what I was looking for. Finally my money burned a hole in my pocket and I bought something else. Not long after there had to be dozens of cars that I would have gone to look at had I not jumped the gun. It's feast or famine when it comes to finding what you want it seems.

Thanks Slantflat-I have been away from these cars for about 10 years and I can see it is all different now ? I realize these cars are over 40 years old and I guess I forgot how old I am !
Seems like yesterday was Nov 1969 and I just drove home from Hupp and Wharton Olds here in Parkersburg,WV with a Brand New 1970 442 W30 Black/White Interior and White Stripes! I guess over the years I have had 6 1970 W30's and a 1970 F85 W31 I bought in the early 1980's with 14000 miles!
I'll just keep looking? I just missed a real nice 1970 442 Silver in Virginia! It sold for $35000 and was a real nice car ! Sam

Expand your search, if you haven't already. This site is a tiny microcosm of Olds owners, and only a small percentage of the people on this site own 1970 442s, and an even smaller number of them may be considering selling.

hemmings.com, ebay, 442.com (there are several '70s for sale on there now) , realoldspower.com, traderonline.com, racingjunk.com, craigslist... so many places to window shop and put the word out.

Good luck with your search for the right car.

Terry

Sam, Welcome! I am right in the neighborhood, about 30 min from Parkersburg and I work in Parkersburg. I know they are not 70s, but there were a couple of 65s at that body shop on Dudley ave by PHS.

I guess mine is out of the question too. It is all new and ready for cruise nights and would make a good driver.

I hear what you are saying. Someday, I will have a 442. I bought my 70 Cutlass last Oct. I would love to show it to you, but right now the front clip and suspension is off of her.

Looks like your first 442 W-30 looked just like mine...

When I joined last year I did the same thing. I posted on here and didn't get any responses at all. They are out there and you will find one. The 70 that I have now I found by going to a local car show. The same car show I had been going to for years so you just never know...

I am in the process of restoring a 70 442 convertible 4 speed, matching engine. Has original working ram air hood. The car is white with brown interior. However we can paint any color and change interior to color you want. Let me know if you are interested.

I have a 70 442 W30 convertible automatic.
