Is it just me?

I have been searching eBay for parts. Am I the only one that is annoyed to no end with the listings for new, high end, performance brakes, suspension, exhaust etc parts that are mingled in with NOS listings? Why can't eBay allow us to narrow the search results to NOS/restoration type pieces? I know there is a market for these products but I would venture a guess that anyone looking for a vintage tach or original armrests, are going to put Wildwood 4 wheel disc brakes on our cars!

Omitting keywords like NOS from searches keeps a lot of items from appearing because they do not appear in the listing.

Thoughts?

I've been searching:

(olds*, cutlass*, 442*)

for 10 years. It used to bring 9,000 listings 10 years ago. 95% of them were people selling used or NOS parts. No businesses, none of those "Buy it Now" listings that have been there forever. Now that search returns 167,000 listings that are 95% OEM parts. I wish I could search for listings with LESS than a feedback of 1,000.

IIRC ... there is supposed to be a way to filter by manufacturer/OEM etc etc.

Unfortunately ... it doesn't do/mean much it seems.

It's all the GENERIC crap that is non-vehicle specific ...

Yet is allowed to be promoted as such ... that makes things an absolute fustercluck at times.

Generic things that ...

Specifically "claim" (& I use that term oh-so-loosely) to fit your particular vehicle (say 1970 442 for this example)

Examples :

A bag of shop towels.
Light bulbs.
Steering wheel covers.

How is that any different than listing say ...

A 1970 442 for sale ... & inserting each & every make/model of car ever made known to man into the listing so it pops up on more searches ?.

It's not.

Yet ... those power sellers do it every day & get away with it.

Try this, type in what year part you're looking for -fits.

IE 1966 442 -fits.

You have to put a space after the last word or #,then -fits. It cuts the 66 442 results from over 9K to under a 1K.
