All i know is the 48 sherwood green It's a 1970 cutlass "S" the car has in it now a 455 e head motor turbo 400 bucket seat auto with a black int

The "06A" means it was built in the first week of June 1970. That's a late-in-the-model-year build date.

For the rest, others will chime in soon with your answers.

 

ST 70 = style/model year = 1970

33687 = Oldsmobile (3) Cutlass (36) holiday coupe (87)

E = assembly plant = Linden NJ

14166 BDY = body number for that assembly plant

TR 937 = interior color and front seat type = ivory color with strato bucket seats

B80 = option code = exterior drip scalp molding

48 48 PNT = lower and upper body colors = sherwood green for both

06A = time build code = June (06), first week of that month (A), 1970

B84 = option code = exterior body side molding

B85 = option code = exterior belt molding

I'm not exactly sure what the difference is between body side moldings and belt moldings; hopefully, someone else can explain!

B85 - Belt Moulding - That's the moulding at the top of the door where it meets the door window and quarter window...

 

More specifically B85 is the WIDE molding as described. Required special sub mounting. Stainless moldings were about 1 1/4" wide.

what about engine? how do i tell what motor it came with?

 

Changing interior colors is not that hard. If it's black that's what a PO has done. Black interior is a color that will go with any color Olds exterior. If you want to go back to original, that can be done with some time, effort and $$$.

re: Engine. Look at the engine stamping pad just in front and below the #1 cylinder. If the last 6 digits of the number there are the last 6 of your VIN, you have the original engine.

The only other way to determine the original engine size would be if you have the original dealer invoices or build sheet. The 70 Cutlass S 33687 could have come with an 8 cylinder engine, but that's all the detail that's provided in the 1970 CSM.

 

336 = Cutlass V8
335 = Cutlass L6

 

'65 - '71 third digit VIN = even # = V8
'65 - '71 third digit VIN = odd # = 6 cyl

 

Yup, Scott what I meant in my post was whether it was a 350 V8 or 455 V8. Guess I should have been more clear. Too bad they didn't have the coding like the 72.

So the VIN derivative on the stamping pad is going to be his best clue whether it's the original engine for the car
