Smile BJ Auction

Watching it now, not sure if it's new or old but there is a 1970 olds 442 getting ready to go to the auction block if anyone wants to tune in!

Yeah, but in this case, the wheels really hurt the look of the car IMO.

I agree with you on that, but I bet most of these "boats" have went to the crusher

Prolly. Also they didn't really make a lot of them to start with. Too much $$$ when you could get a Chev Impala or Pontiac Laurentian to haul the family in. I think the big wagon market was mostly won by Chev and Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth. The mid size market was dominated by Ford I think - Country Squire/Fairlane

For a lot less that 220K I would want the front bumper to line up as well as it did in 72.

The green one you saw hammered at 23100 including buyer fee.

the green one I posted sold for 36.3 at Scottsdale

There's a 70 Thornton restoration going prolly tomorrow. Lot 370 rally red with white top.

Yeah, it would prolly have lined up better in 1970 when it was built. I've seen that problem on a several of the repro 69/70 front bumpers. Knock off 1000.00 for imperfection....

Thanks Allan. I'll be glued to the TV tomorrow afternoon. Nothing better to do since the temp is suppose to be almost a 100 tomorrow

IMO, It wasn't very exciting this time around. Just saw bits and pieces tho. Lots of cars going for really low numbers. Maybe the collector market is finally being affected by the economy. According to Craig Jackson 40% of the sales were from new bidders and 50% of the bidders were new. Some very sweet buys.

I think it was fitting that they dedicated this auction to the late Carroll Shelby.

That is pretty funny. It didn't cross my mind that someone would of thought of it that way or I would have listed it different.
