Fuel tank/evap canister question.

Need a little help here.

On my 67-442, the PO installed a new fuel tank and capped off the 2 nipples on the rear of the tank to the drivers side of the filler neck. I have installed a non vented cap to try to reduce the fuel smell in the garage. All that has done is caused the tank to collapse when the car cools off.

I'm thinking of installing a simple canister system and am wondering if I can use one of the capped off nipples as a vent? are they high enough in the tank not to allow liquid fuel to be pushed into the canister? Has anyone done this with good results?

The capped-off nipples ARE vents (well, were SUPPOSED to be vents). Vent the tank properly. Adding an evap canister requires a carb with the proper ported vacuum source to periodically vent the canister.

Thanks Joe, I have a 1903 Edelbrock q-jet so t-eeing in to a ported source isn't a problem I think I'll give it a shot and see how much I can reduce the fuel smell.
