Smile Quadrajet a must

How hard is it to upgrade a divorced choke Quadrajet from a 69 442 6.6l to an electric choke? Can it even be done? Or, maybe i should get a later model Quadrajet. Whats a good year? I have heard that the 1975 on wards are good as they have the larger castings. The reason I'm wanting to do this is I am upgrading the intake from stock to a performer.
Cheers
PS - Any recommendations for Autoline re manufactured Carbs ?

Why not just use a manual choke?

  • Buy manual choke kit in auto parts store.
  • Find mounting location, drill holes, run Bowden cable through firewall.
  • Use included parts to connect Bowden cable to choke lever on carb.

100% X2,

the manual choke conversion kit at the zone is around 10 bucks. My Quadrajet NEVER RAN BETTER then when it had the manual choke. No guesswork or wondering if choke is on or off. Super easy install too as eric mentioned.
