Art, you can build one for about $20 worth of 1" square tube. Do you have access to a welder? Ive built several myself and never build them by dimensions. Hang the motor from a cherry picker, bolt the 4 vertical mounting tubes to the engine and weld a perimeter around the bottom.

Here is the one i built. I did use 1" flat stock to bolt to the block and the 1" square tube is welded to the flat stock.

There is a very nice one here too. Also a mention of a chevy one modded to fit.

As mentioned, you can get these at places like Summit and Jegs too. I welded my own togther from heavy angle iron, and the casters were most expensive part. If you pull the carb and dizzy off the engine, laying a piece of wood on it, makes a nice storage shelf. I had mine in a back yard shed, and a couple 2' x 8' plywood sheets, got me across the lawn. You're probably wanting better casters if going this route.

I built one out of wood (one 2x10x8 and one 2x4x8) and hardware (lag bolts and carriage bolts). Not a must, but I decided to add casters as well. This is for a 455 with a standard oil pan. Oil pan sits down inside and the engine rests on edges of oil pan where it meets the block. Check it out below. Note the notches for the front crankshaft end and the oil pan dipstick notch.

I have one. Was like $65 added to my machine shop bill. Worked perfectly. Even had nuts welded on frame for bolt storage. Will fit BBO or SBO (since the lower halves of both are the same).

Harbor Freight has their four wheel engine stand on sale for $45 if you use the coupons in any hot rod or truck magazine.

Yep. That looks just like it. (Although there's no name on mine so I can't be sure of the brand...)

Hi my name is Les. I just purchased a rebuilt 455 Olds and was looking to build one of these to help transfer from my truck to the engine stand. Basically something that the engine can sit in my truck bed while I take it to my house. I have engine stand for it but needed something to keep it in my bed for transportation.

Thanks,

Les

Just wondered if you had the dimensions of your stand you made which is cool, the rectangle box you built where it touches. I have to make one this week figured you know. Thank you I appreciate it.

Thanks,

Les

I built two pairs of these out of 1" square tube. They work well and bolt to the side of the block.

I highly second the recommendation for the Allstar Performance ALL10142 Heavy Duty Engine Cradle for Oldsmobile. Bought mine on Amazon Prime, delivered for $81.99.

Amazon Amazon

Bought a set of these steel wheels, too. They work great, and no concern with flattening.
