Oh, man, I'm so sorry to hear that, Bry.

I have a lot of trouble understanding how these things happen - even when I was a kid and did some DUMB stuff, I never came close to doing anything like that.
We had a lady do that in NY a couple of years ago, killed about eight other people if I recall, had a minivan full of kids and a bottle of vodka under the seat, and her husband said he didn't even know she drank.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family, and I hope you and your family are okay, too.

I am very sorry to hear this. My condolences to you and please pass them on to the family. No family should have to endure such things.

A terrible story. My thoughts and prayers are with those involved and you, too. I am an advocate of elderly driver's tests and this just might be an example (albeit a bad one) of why.

Thanks for all the comments ..... even though the initial report said it seemed alchohol was not a factor in the crash , the lady who hit my friend supposedly had 4 DUI's prior to this accident according to what someone heard at my work.

Same here in Gurnee town, not far from where you are. I drive I-94 every day, It could have easily have been me. You can be gone in the blink of an eye.

Enjoy your life and laugh in the face of what we all perceive as "problems" or "a bad day"

My prayers go your way and to your friends family.

Done.
Bryon, I can only imagine how devastating you and the family are. It puts all the rest of life on hold when something like that happens. It sounds like senseless tragedy and nothing can bring him back. My deepest sympathy and condolences to you and the family.

re: the DUIs? I know it's hearsay at this time, but IMO it showed a trend that should have been grounds for total driving suspension. I keep seeing these things on the news and can never get over how drunk driving is so frowned on but stiff penalties are never really handed out by the courts. Insurance be damned when a drunk kills someone - there's no justice strong enough, and I don't believe the drunk drivers ever stay remorseful. But the carnage they leave behind is forever.

My prayers to them as well.... I am SOOOOOooo sick of hearing about these kind of stories. Why do people do such DUMB things? How drunk does it take to make you go so fast on the wrong side? If you wanna get drunk, stay home. If you want to commit suicide, hit a bridge column. Do not take an innocent life! I have lost a friend this way too long ago.
And just this past saturday, a similar incident happened on I30 which involved another friend of mine, but luckily he walked away from it.
I hope the judge from above throws the book at her!
Sorry for the rant........

I suspect the Judge already did. The charitable would pray for her as well (but maybe not tonight).

I'm so sorry Bry, My thoughts and prayers are with all who knew him.

It makes me mad beyond description when I hear an awful story like this. The laws are so tough on the casual dumbass, but the professional dumbass just keeps right on doing there thing until some innocent soul is dead. They really ought to permanently revoke the license of anyone with 3 DUI's (which is still too many!) driving is a privilege. We had a truck driver here in Maine kill someone, only to find out he had something like 18 DUI's!

Sorry about your loss of a good friend. They are hard to come by. I am sure his family is beyond devastated. As said everything can change in the blink of and eye. Very sad story.

Pray For

Ever see those spikes that stick up when someone tries to enter a parking garage the wrong way? Well that's exactly what we need on expressway entrance ramps. When someone tries to enter a ramp the wrong way, they blow the tires! That should stop this from happening!

Very Very Sad...

This is unbelievable, as we must all be, I am also sorry for your loss, and my prayers are with all the familys involved, I do think folks should walk a mile in others shoes, if alcohol is involved that is also a tragedy, an addiction and an illness and destroys families as well, who knows what the circumstances were, maybe her family begged her to stay home etc, death serves no master well...and yes it's always the innocents who seem to pay the higher price. The Judge is just as guilty if she did not have her license revoked after the 2nd DUI, etc etc ( if this turns out to be the case)

I know what you mean. At 68 years my friends are "leaving" at an alarming rate. My two partners from my old company are now gone too. Getting to where I hate to hear the phone ring in the evening
