Seeing that pix of Story Olds brought back way to many memories. Spent a lot of time down at that dealship when I was assigned to Product Reliability Dept. checking on product and warranty problems. Also that pix of Labadie Olds is where I picked up the last 70' F-85 W-31 auto. made. The only 70 F-85 W-31 built with the Buckskin interior code, chocolate dash, vnyle flooring, rear package shelf, and the rest in Buckskin (kind of a cream color). It was my "Brass Hat car" (factory car) that I drove 3,000 miles in two weeks! Turned it back in for my next Brass Hat Car and bought it on the spot. It listed for $4300 ( I ordered a lot options on it), as an exc. employee I only paid $2900! To bad it is in Olds heaven. Got totaled out in a towing accident in 1975, on the way to an NHRA National event while towing my factory built Smothers Bros. Drag Team car, a 68' F-85 Ram Rod.

I got to know Mr. Story pretty well. He heard I was leaving Olds in 1973 and that I wanted to move to Florida. Called me and offered me the Service Mangers job at an Olds dealership that he just purchased in Daytona Beach, FL. Paid all my expenses, gave me a new 73' 98 LS to drive, and even had a trailer hitch installed on it so I could pull a U-Haul trailer with all my stuff! The wife drove my 70' F-85 pulling my 68' F-85 race car on a trailer. Talk about Beverly Hillbillies!

My '69 came from University Olds in Lansing, Mi. Have never found a good (any) of the dealership. Where in the heck did you find so many? I was told recently that Story owned University Olds also.

Awesome pics! Love the old dealership history, you just don't see that kind of excitement at a dealer or gas station anymore.

Cool pictures.

The only excitement at gas stations these days is when you manage to fill up without the price hittin the triple digits.

BTW; seeing girls/women in ads does not surprise me ! Olds started a program in 69' called "The WOW Program" or "women on wheels". Dealers would advertise locally and a field service rep. would show up on a date established and conduct a 3 hour class in the dealeship service bays on how to check fluid levels, change a tire, what different noises meant, what a green, red, or black stain under the car meant, etc. Olds knew early on that women did in fact controll the money in the house hold! LOL

Hey TK-65: Thanks for posting these time capsules! TK-65 has thrown down the gauntlet... Go through your high school yearbook or community newspaper and please post any great Oldsmobile pictures that you can find!

Very cool!

These are for Lee Pearl, his car came from Hansel Oldsmobile.

Finding 65 442 photos is why I am doing this.

Love these pics, thanks for posting them! There was a shot in an old yearbook from my high school of a family friend doing a burnout in his '65 442 while "waving" to the cameraman. The pic was edited somewhat. He was class of 1970. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of it but I remember seeing it on the wall of his body shop some years back.

That pic at the gas station with all the service guys got me thinking, if that were to happen to me at a gas station today I would wonder what the heck was going on!

Different times for sure.

Awesome photos. Jim Allee Oldsmobile was right down the road from where I grew up. My dad used to go there to get replacement parts for our 442. Always loved looking at the new Oldsmobiles on the show room...

TK (aka Jasen) they are some coooooool pics! I remember when I was a kid, back in the '60s going to work with my father on Saturdays. I would roam around the showroom watching people buying new cars---those pics really remind me of those fun-filled times. All the salesmen and managers took a liking to me and they were kinda like my mentors. Look where it got me!!!!! Things were a WHOLE LOT different back then; personally I miss it. Thanks for sharing all the pics and keep 'em comin'!!! Untiul next time..... Dave.

What happened to all the model year signage that were in the showrooms at the end of the year? Dumpster? Id love to have some of that stuff for my garage walls. Thats whats great about some of these photos, you get to see the inside of the showrooms.
