Harmonic Balancer ?

Is there a way to tell with the balancer off the engine whether it has slipped or not? I would think that there would be an alignment mark somewhere on the inner hub but I can't see anything or I'm not looking for the right thing.

If you can't find an alignment mark then you'll have to get the engine to TDC using a piston stop and a degree wheel and then install the balancer to confirm if it's spun or not.

Whenever I build a motor, I use a cold chisel and make my own alignment marks.

I also try to verify TDC on the timing pad, before I put the heads on.

I'm just trying to determine if the balancer has slipped, if it has I need to get it rebuilt.
