71-72 442 REPRODUCTION RAM AIR FIBERGLASS PIN ON HOOD W/RAISED SCOOPS W/ AIR BOX. THESE ARE AN ADDITIONAL 2 INCHES ABOVE STOCK.
Bigger scoops. I'm sure the guys that do original restorations are not interested in this but what about the clones?

You know its just a pin on race car type hood right? You can't open by hinges. you have to lift it off and set it somewhere it won't blow away any time you want to do something as simple as checking the oil.
Looks like a caricature to me, but that's just my opinion. The bigger question is why? If you think you'll be getting more clearance for a taller intake, you won't. The part of the hood between the scoops (and directly over the carb) is at the same height as on any other O.A.I. hood.
Actually it isn't bad taking the hood off and putting back on (mine is lift-off also).
The hood looks much better since Bob got the black painted on top of the scoops.
Bob did tell me he gained clearance between the scoops.

I think they look more like a cartoon. You will gain some hood clearance with those large-scooped hoods, which are made by Glasstek.
There is another hood being made by Schononeck Composites,in Minnesota, which has scoops 1" taller than stock, and the center is flush with the scoops. These hoods have the same amount of hood clearance as the large scoop hoods from Glasstek. However, the Schononeck hoods are only available for 70 right now.He needs a 71-72 OAI hood to take a pattern from. The nicer the better. He will not damage it,or even scratch the paint.I have talked with Danny, and I might send one of my hoods out there,if it comes to that.
Glasstek also offers another hood with stock height scoops, and the center raised flush with the tops of the scoops.
Basicly, there are currently 3 options for custom OAI hoods, but Robert,at Glasstek, can make other custom hoods as well.
