1970 442 W-30 vin

I'm thinking of buying a 1970 w-30 455 4spd the guy says its a w-30 but it's not the original motor. It has red inner fenders, tic toc tach, and posi. Can anyone verify this is a w-30 with this vin 344870Exxxxxx.

well you can not verify that it is a W30 but fortunately for you it can tell you its definitely not one. The fact it has an E in the VIN ( I think that is Freemont or is it Farmingham I don't remember) but I digress.... it must have an M in the VIN for Lansing. This car is not a W30, though the 34487 does mean it is a 442. Only way to tell is with original documentation like sales sheet or build sheet. Not even the cowl tag will say anything. all the W30 parts are bolt-ons.

And tic toc tac and posi could have been ordered on any 442

The E is for Linden, New Jersey.
