Northern California brake/machine shop for disc brake conversion?

Hello all,
i wanted to ask if anyone has a recommendation for a Northern California(or anywhere else in California) machine shop or brake shop that has done a 69/70 B body disc brake hub to a Cadillac CTS rotor machine work. I’m doing the 70 delta 88 to 66 delta 88 conversion. The 70 rotors are shot so the CTS rotors are my plan now.

I know many of you might say that any good machine shop can do this, it’s easy, but I’d like to find a shop that’s actually done this process before.

Thanks in advance for the help!
Larry

Larry,
Just sent you a note privately. Perhaps that helps.

It may take a combination of people here in NorCal to get this conversion done, but it can be done. I highly doubt you’ll find someone who’s done this before locally, but fully support your effort in finding someone with this experience.

First up, conversion to front disk brakes is probably reason #2 o#3 why I keep these old cars.

In 2026 commute traffic, 4 wheel drum brakes force you to stay far behind that ABS-equipped modern car in front of you. Then every day, some *sshole always cuts in front of you using your sensible distance margin & makes your ride a lot less fun. Upgrading to front disks is not cheap, but if you’re keeping the car, it’s a worthy upgrade for safety & enjoyment.

With our cars, and at our ages, the guys who know what to do & how to do this conversion it are leaving the stage by personal preference (retirement) or worse.

No knock on those younger than us, but it’s not obvious to me that anyone <40 years old wants to learn how to do this stuff. So people like you & me have to find the guys who learned & still know what to do without consulting a database (which is probably wrong…)

Warmly volunteering to help from here. I just don’t want to give you any unrealistic expectations. Let me finish by repeating this is a very good way to upgrade your car to work in 2026.

Cheers
Chris
