Original decal removal on Rallye 350...

Is it possible to remove the decals on an original paint car and not damage the paint?

SURE, use a hair dryer and keep the dryer moving back & forth over the decal to soften the glue as you pull it off slowly. Dont keep the dryer in one area. Here is the problem, once the decal is removed the paint under this will not be faded. So you will see where this decal was.

The only real issue with the fading is that if you're not repainting the car and only replacing the decals it can get dicey. If they're exact sized repros, they'll likely never be noticed if placed in the same spot. But if they're not, they'll show a huge difference in the faded/not faded areas. Also, it'll show if you try to "fix" the placement of the decals from any potential misplacement from whoever put them on originally. Repainting? No problem.

That is what I am worried about, If the new decals are not the exact same size it will show non faded paint around the new decals. Installing the decals is easy but taking the old ones off I am more worried about. I will highly likely never pull the original decals off but just asking the question. The pictures I am getting of the car i am looking at, I think the decals will be nice enough to fit the aged look of the rest of the car.

Sounds like you're getting quite a collection, Eric.

Had a major change of plans. I will fill everyone in at a later time.
