1966 F-85 Trim Code 4D

I believe that for a 1966 F-85, 4D is "Y68 Mouldings, Deluxe Chrome Side - Includes rocker panel and wheel opening mouldings. $31.60." Can someone confirm?

For the 1965 model year, the Group 4 "D" ACC code denoted the use of the die case Cutlass tail panel as an option on base F85 cars. For 1966, RPO Y68 was the F85 Deluxe side moldings on a base F85. I suspect that is what the 4D represents. Does this car have those side trim pieces?

My F-85 has no rocker or wheel-opening moldings, but there are holes for the latter. Moldings may have been taken off, but removing the rocker clips and properly filling the holes would've been a pain. Hence my question.

As I look into this further, this is more likely the incorporation of the die case panel at the back of the trunklid. F85 Deluxe and Cutlass cars got this panel, which requires the same holes in the trunklid as the 442-specific panel, so there's no need to call out that hole drilling separately. The base F85 cars got a different trunk trim that did not use the die cast panel, so this may be the indication that the Deluxe/Cutlass style trunk drilling was required to install the 442 panel.

Joe, thank you. I may do a frame-off on this car, in which case I'll see what lies beneath the rockers. Sourcing the 24 clips for the rocker moldings would be a chore!

In 65 4D was an F85 only trim code. And it was the Y68 trim. Rocker, wheel lip, and rear stainless trim. I’d suspect that in 66 it was the same code. Rocker and wheel lip trim.
