Pull for license plate

Happy New Year everyone! I'm watching Jay Leno's Garage and there is a guy with one of the Rockford Files Pontiacs, very cool. Anyway they showed him pulling down the rear license plate and it had a finger pull on it. I don't remember these being on my cars growing up, but I want one! It's ingenious. Anyone know what I'm talking about or better yet, know where I can get one?
Thanks,
Mark

You don't say what car it would be for. Many will fit other vehicles without mods or very simple mods. Just find one you like and see if it'll work. A lot of these are available repro for various models.

Here's an Mid 70's version for a Cutlass

Or an early 80's Caddy, I've seen similar from g-bodies of the same era.

Had one on a 65 Impala I had in high school ( a long time ago) it was just a tab attached to the license plate bolt.

Am I missing something? I can usually hook the tag with my finger.

Thank you. That's very similar to what I saw, but I can't see to find them online. I like the tab held on by the bolt. I think I'll look for one of those vs. swapping out the whole thing.

Never knew this was such a problem, if your worried about breaking a nail, I suggest wearing some dainty gloves.

With my 3 79 G bodies, as with any plastic, they get old, harden up and break; 2 out of 3 of mine are broken. Sometimes you can find an NOS one, but I just pull the plate down without them. I worry more about avoiding getting drops of gas on the piece under the license plate, and/or the bumper.

Yep, finding metal ones or OEM ones has proven difficult and I don't want to go the plastic route. I think I'm going to go to the hardware store and get a a strip of metal and form one up.
